McMinnville AVA · Established 1983

The oldest winery in the McMinnville AVA.

One hundred and fifty acres above the valley floor, farmed since 1983. Every bottle is estate grown — the fruit has never left this ground.

The estate’s year

There is no bad month. There is only a different one.

    SpringMarch – May

    Bud break in the rows.

The vines come back before the visitors do. The quietest light of the year on the hillside, and the room is open five days a week through all of it.

    SummerMay – September

Walk the vineyard with someone who farms it.

A guided hike goes out through the planted rows, up above the valley floor. Two marked trails cross the estate the rest of the time.

    HarvestSeptember – October

    The fruit comes in.

Everything in the bottle is picked within sight of the room it is poured in. One hundred and fifty acres, and not a grape from anywhere else.

    WinterNovember – February

Taste it before it is wine.

Barrel tasting runs through the cold months — the same vintage at three stages, straight from the wood, months before anyone else drinks it.

Planning your visit

Before you drive out

Yes — if it isn't Tuesday or Wednesday, and you arrive before four.

Walk-ins are welcome and reservations hold your table. The room stops seating an hour before it closes, which is the detail most worth knowing before you set off.

  • Thursday to Monday, 11am – 5pm
  • Last seating 4pm
  • Closed Tuesday and Wednesday
  • Walk-ins welcome; booking holds the table
Reserve a table

Two trails, a deck under oaks, and a hike through the rows.

You are welcome to bring your own food, and there is charcuterie if you would rather not. Dogs are fine on the deck. From May to September a guided hike goes out through the planted vineyard.

Plan a visit

Welcome — with a card on file and a little notice.

Larger parties are straightforward, they just need arranging. Children count toward the party size, which is the part that catches people out when they are booking for a family.

  • Parties of 7 or more need a card on file
  • Cancellation inside 24 hours is $25 per person
  • Children are counted in the party size
  • Indoor and outdoor seating — say which when you book

The space rents by the hour for private events. What it costs and what it includes is a conversation rather than a price list, so this puts you in front of someone instead of pretending otherwise.

In the glass

Pinot Noir, and the family around it.

The heart of the winemaking is Pinot Noir. Alongside it: Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling and a Rosé — all of it grown on the estate, made by head winemaker Ariel Eberle.

  • Flights, $25–$30 — waived with a two-bottle purchase
  • Wine by the glass and by the bottle
  • Beer, kombucha, sodas and seasonal cocktails
  • Charcuterie, seasoned pretzels and toasted corn nuts

The estate

Still the same family, still the same ground.

Denis Burger, Elaine McCall and David Hinrichs founded the winery in 1983, before the McMinnville AVA had a name. Everything in the bottle is still grown within sight of the room it is poured in.

Who you will meet

A family business, photographed like one.

The single biggest lift available to this site is not a layout. It is a morning with a photographer on the property. No stock library can stand in for it — so here is the shot list rather than a substitute.

The wine club

Allocations from the estate, shipped or collected. Members already have a reason to visit — the site should make the next one obvious.
